Islamabad United vs Quetta Gladiators Prediction 15/02/2017

The Pakistan Super League 2017 will resume after a two-day break with the Islamabad United taking on Quetta Gladiators in Sharjah on Wednesday, February 15. This will be the seventh game of the tournament. This game will kick start at 8 pm local time (4 pm GMT or 9 pm Pakistan time).

Islamabad United Squad: Misbah-ul-Haq (captain), Shane Watson, Steven Finn, Sharjeel Khan, Mohammad Irfan, Samuel Badree, Mohammad Sami, Khalid Latif, Brad Haddin, Sam Billings, Hussain Talat, Amad Butt, Dwayne Smith, Ben Duckkett, Shadab Khan, Zohaib Khan, Saeed Ajmal, Imran Khalid, Asif Ali, Rumman Raees, Syed Muzammil Shah

Quetta Gladiators Squad: Sarfraz Ahmed (captain), Umar Gul, Asad Shafiq, Ahmed Shehzad, Mohammad Nawaz, Kevin Pietersen, Luke Wright, Rilee Rossouw, Mahmudullah Riyad, Anwar Ali, Tymal Mills, Hassan Khan, Nathan McCullum, Thisara Perera, Bismillah Khan, Mir Hamza, Zulfiqar Babar, Saad Nasim, Umar Amin, Noor Wali

Quetta are currently the only unbeaten side in the competition, having played and won two matches apiece so far. And clearly, they have been the surprise of the tournament, although the presence of the recently-appointed Pakistan ODI skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed should have helped the team as well.

What’s been interesting to watch is that the Gladiators won the first game despite been restricted to 136 by Lahore Qalandars before chasing down 160 against the Karachi kings batting second – quite a decent pointer towards how they have been able to do both, bat and bowl well.

Tymal Mills has led the charge with three wickets from the two games while Thisara Perera also bagged a three-wicket haul in the Karachi game.

As far as the Quetta batting is concerned, so far, it’s been a two-man army – Rilee Rossouw has been a common threat, with scores of 60 and 76 not-out so far to go with a half-century from the bat of the captain Sarfaraz.

Islamabad would be distraught with the way things have gone and thankful for this two-day break to regroup. They started off with a win in their opening game against the Peshawar Zalmi and it was evident why they had won the tournament. Despite conceding 190 to the Zalmis, Islamabad chased down the target in 18-odd overs to notch up their first points.

Then the spot-fixing allegations came around against a few of their players and that seemed to have pegged them back going into the second game. Still, helped by captain Misbah-ul-Haq’s 61, they managed to put up 158 against the Lahore Qalandars.

Unfortunately for them, first Brendon McCullum and then Umar Akmal helped Jason Roy’s unbeaten 60 to guide them to a victory.
